
What is Overthinking?
Overthinking is common, there are times when we all do it.
But what is it?
The key features of overthinking are:

The going over or coming back to the same situation, repeatedly, dwelling on things, unable to them shake off.

Thoughts are often concerned with:
a. Future consequences of a situation -
what could happen.
b. Alternative paths you could / should have taken -
questioning of your choices or actions.
Signs & Symptoms
Even though overthinking is common it can become overwhelming and lead to:

Difficulty sleeping: Either early waking or difficulty falling asleep.

Poor concentration: Thoughts can be intrusive, popping up when they are not wanted and difficult to get away from.

Feeling irritable or on edge.

Seeking reassurance: Going over the situation with other people to get their opinion.
